First, turn on the faucet connected to the frozen pipe. If only a trickle comes out or nothing at all, you likely have a frozen pipe. Keep the faucet open – as we thaw the pipe, water will start flowing and help melt the remaining ice.
If you can safely access the frozen area, you can try gentle warming with a hair dryer, starting from the faucet end and working toward the coldest section. Never use a torch, open flame, or high-heat source – this can damage pipes or create safety hazards.
Most importantly, know where your main water shut-off valve is located. If a pipe bursts while frozen, you’ll need to shut off water immediately to prevent flooding. Call us right away because professional thawing prevents pipe damage that DIY methods often cause.
