Earthquake shut-off valves work with all natural gas appliances in your home, including water heaters, furnaces, stoves, dryers, and fireplaces. The valve shuts off gas flow to your entire house, protecting all gas-powered equipment simultaneously.
After the valve activates, you’ll need to relight pilot lights on appliances that have them. This is normal and expected. We provide instructions on safely relighting pilots, or you can have us handle this during the reset process.
The valve installation doesn’t affect your appliances’ normal operation. You won’t notice any difference in performance or gas pressure. The only time the valve activates is during significant seismic activity, when you want all gas flow stopped immediately for safety.
